Chelsea Richards
Chelsea Richards joined St. Stephen’s in 2016 and currently serves as an Associate Athletic Director and Field Hockey Program Head. Her past roles at St. Stephen's include serving as the Middle School Athletic Director, coaching soccer, softball, and lacrosse, and living on campus as a residential dorm parent. Richards is an alumna of The Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas, where she competed as a three-sport athlete in field hockey, soccer and softball. After graduating from Hockaday, Richards attended the University of Iowa, earning an athletic scholarship to play field hockey. While at Iowa, Richards and the Hawkeyes earned two Big Ten Conference Tournaments Championships, competed in the NCAA Tournament, and advanced to the NCAA Division I National Semifinals. After graduating from Iowa in 2011 with degrees in Health Science and Graphic Design, Richards spent several years working as a designer in the nonprofit sector while also coaching at Casady School in Oklahoma City. Richards is currently a USA Field Hockey Level II certified coach and has coached regionally for USAFH for more than four years. Richards was selected to coach at the Junior Olympics in 2018 as well as the National Future Championships in 2019, and she took the Spartans to the Field Hockey Women's World Cup in London in 2018. Richards earned her M.S. in Sport Management from Texas A&M in 2020.
