Project and Idea Realization Lab
The PIRL serves to provide an environment for all members of the St. Stephen’s community to engage in design, innovation and creative service while also recognizing the individual, local and global hope and change that compassionate making can bring to society.
Born out of our Strategic Plan process and opened in the Fall 2018, The PIRL provides members of the St. Stephen’s community access to an Epilog Zing 28 Laser Cutter, an Ultimaker S5 dual extrusion 3D printer, a Form 2 Stereolithography printer, a sewing machine, Arduinos, Raspberry Pi, Lilypad Sewable Electronics and various hand and power tools. The PIRL is open during the day for students to drop in when they may have a free period, is available for teachers to bring a class to work on projects together and also hosts after school and weekend activities for our faculty and day and boarding students.
