Spartan Athletes of the Week: Claire Wan and Audrey Wan

Congratulations to St. Stephen’s Varsity Golf player Claire Wan ’25 and Varsity Track runner Audrey Wan ’25 for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!

 

Claire Wan is a force to be reckoned with on the golf course. She has led the Spartan girls’ team for years and continues to shine in the sport. On Monday, the Spartan golf team took to the road and competed in the Trinity Valley School Invitational tournament against nine other schools from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Despite being placed with competitors that shot 30 strokes higher, Wan was able to maintain her own game and be the perfect competitor. 

 

"I can't even count how many coaches and players from other teams approach me at every tournament to talk positively about Claire as both a player and a person,” said Head Golf Coach Garrett Brustein. “Per usual, Claire's name was at the top of the leaderboard all day and she finished in first place shooting a 2-over-par 73. Claire has been and continues to be a role model for Spartan athletes in both her competitive success and attitude on and off the course."

 

Audrey Wan had a great meet at the Seeger Relays at Texas School for the Deaf on Friday afternoon. She ran a season best in the 800-meter and 1600-meter. Wan led both races wire-to-wire for commanding victories, showcasing her talent and athleticism on the track.

 

“Audrey has worked hard all season, showing great consistency and leadership,” commented Distance Track and Field Coach Greg Cook. “We’re excited to see her continued improvement as we move closer to the SPC Championships.”
