Every year, St. Stephen's welcomes a student from St. Margaret's in Tokyo and a student from St. Andrew's in Osaka. In exchange, two St. Stephen's students go to Japan to complete their 10th grade year there.
The Japanese Exchange Program recently celebrated its 50th year of existence, and we are confident this year's participants will continue the powerful legacy of cross-cultural exchange and friendship.
Both Josh Goldenberg '27 and Lauren Geller '27 were greeted enthusiastically by their host families when they arrived in Osaka and Tokyo, respectively. Josh joined track and field and the train club, and he spends time with his host family playing many games, especially ping pong. Lauren has been taking calligraphy and handbell classes, and she will soon begin volunteering at the middle school to help students learn English.
St. Stephen's welcomed Luna Minawa '27 and Yusei Takada '27 to the 10th grade class. They have adjusted to living in the dorms, they've both joined the volleyball teams, and they are enjoying making new friends and engaging with different cultures. We look forward to their year with us!
