Spartan fall Varsity teams are ready for postseason play! Varsity Cross Country, Field Hockey, Boys Volleyball and Girls Volleyball will compete in the Southwest Preparatory Conference Championships in Dallas beginning on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Varsity Football will travel to Leander for the first round of the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations (TAIAO) playoffs on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Varsity Cross Country wrapped up the regular season at the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Invitational Meet, where both and girls have demonstrated remarkable growth. The Spartans are now focused on bringing that intensity this weekend at the SPC Championship Meet at Norbuck Park (Dallas, TX), hoping to earn a spot on the podium in the SPC 4A race.
“I am excited to see our athletes compete this weekend,” says Cross Country Program Director Greg Cook. “They’ve looked great in practice, and I am proud of the consistency and effort they’ve shown all year.”
Varsity Field Hockey enters the postseason with a 12-6 record (7-2 in conference play) this fall, including nine shutouts. The team is seeded 4th in the 4A bracket and will take on The Hockaday School (Dallas, TX) in the first round of the SPC Tournament on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Hockaday.
“It’s going to be a fun weekend,” says Field Hockey Program Director Chelsea Richards. “Competing against the best teams in our conference is what we want to do, and I know our girls are ready for the challenge.”
Varsity Football is gearing up for a crucial first-round showdown against Founders Classical Academy (Leander, TX) in the TAIAO Division I playoffs. Captains Basil Baldwin, Sebi Creixell, Sebastian Estep, Luke Mabley and James Kim have the experience and drive to lead the team to a playoff victory on Saturday. “Going into the first round, we are feeling stronger than ever,” says Football Program Director Jay Patterson. “Our team is improving each week and this week is no different.”
Varsity Boys Volleyball eagerly awaits SPC tournament play against their first opponent, the Awty International School (Houston, TX). The team finished 6-4 in conference play and six Spartan seniors are poised to make a statement this weekend as they have become program-changers over the course of their high school careers.
"With a strong season behind us, we’re eager to make waves in the SPC tournament,” said Boys Volleyball Head Coach Dakota Goin. “I'm excited to see how our athletes step up and compete in the postseason. This is where it all comes together.”
Varsity Girls Volleyball faces Greenhill School (Addison, TX) for its first opponent in the SPC tournament this weekend. Captains Donnica Armstrong, Leigh Wittliff and Cameron Carper bring a load of tournament experience to postseason play and are looking to upset familiar conference opponents in the first round on Thursday.
“I think we are a team that has made big jumps from a technical standpoint,” commented Girls Volleyball Head Coach Cursty Le Roux. “We have been consistent in our recent practices, and I’m excited to see it all come together to compete this weekend.”
