Spartan Athletes of the Week: Levi Skaistis, Austin Ross, Tristan McCain, Watt Wilkinson and Savvy Horne-Lalande

The Spartan boys relay team made history at the SPC Championship Meet last weekend, setting conference records in both the 400 yard freestyle relay and the 200 yard medley relay. Levi Skaistis ‘26, Austin Ross ‘26, Tristan McCain ‘26 and Watt Wilkinson ‘25 finished the 400 yard relay in 3:06.98, nearly ten seconds before the next team touched the wall. The 200 yard medley relay was a tighter race. The Spartans finished in 1:32.49, dropping more than six seconds from their previous race and finishing only two seconds in front of St. Mark’s.

“Our boys 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard free relay teams posted SPC record-breaking times that are likely to sit on top of the SPC record board for years to come,” noted Head Coach Tom Andrew. “These guys put in countless hours each week, and it really showed. They made a statement last weekend.”

Savvy Horne-Lalande ‘27 delivered a standout performance at the SPC Championships, taking first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.43. Horne-Lalande had a strong prelim swim and shaved off 2.63 seconds from her seed time in the finals to earn first in the 4A Division.

“Savvy set a goal for herself, and it was clear she aimed to meet it,” commented Head Coach Tom Andrew. “I’m excited to see her develop over the next few years into a championship swimmer!”

As momentum for the swim program continues to build and the Still Water Foundation Aquatic Center is on track to open this fall, the future of Spartan Swimming is bright.
