Spartan Athletes of the Week: Savannah Schutt '27 and Watt Wilkinson '25

Savannah Schutt ‘27 has been a spark for the Varsity Girls Soccer team this season. Her vision, passing ability, and game awareness on the pitch have contributed to the team’s 5-0 start. Recently, Schutt recorded a hat trick and an assist against Fort Worth Country Day School and added another goal and an assist against Hyde Park.

“As intelligent as she is skillful, Savannah brings so much to her role as a central midfielder,” commented Head Coach Andy Aceves. “She is always eager to get on the ball, and she is unafraid to take players on and make the dangerous, incisive passes that so often lead to our best attacking opportunities. She scores big goals and creates big chances for her teammates, and she has been instrumental to the strong run we've been on to start the season.”

Watt Wilkinson ‘25 performed with poise at the latest Texas School for the Deaf Invitational meet. He managed to earn the top spots in the 100 m Backstroke and the 50 m Freestyle races. As the season progresses, keep an eye on Wilkinson as he aims to meet qualifying times for the conference meet in February.

“Watt is a tremendous, very versatile swimmer,” remarked Swimming Head Coach Tom Andrew. “It was nice to see him get early SPC qualifying times in the 50 free and 100 back.”
