Spartan Athlete of the Week: William Schmidt

Congratulations to St. Stephen’s Varsity Baseball pitcher William Schmidt ’24 for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!

In Monday night’s game against the Austin Waves, which ended in a 3-3 tie, William Schmidt ’24 showcased his pitching prowess with a remarkable performance. Pitching four innings, Schmidt allowed only one hit and no earned runs while striking out three hitters. His stellar showing not only contributed to the team's success but also exemplified his unwavering dedication to the game.

Head Varsity Baseball Coach, Steven Elder, lauded Schmidt's impact on and off the field, emphasizing his relentless work ethic and leadership qualities. Elder noted that Schmidt inspires his teammates and sets a high standard for the underclassmen. As Elder put it, "Every time William steps on the field, he brings the dawg mentality. He plays the game with passion and leaves it all out on the field."

The Spartans are heading into a tough matchup this Friday in Houston at Episcopal High School.
