Spartan Athletes of the Week: Alice Wilkerson and Zach Prager
Congratulations to St. Stephen’s Varsity Lacrosse player Alice Wilkerson ’24 and Varsity Baseball Player Zach Prager ’25 for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!
In a thrilling season opener, the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team secured a hard-fought 8-5 triumph over Vandegrift High School, with senior captain Alice Wilkerson emerging as the standout performer. With three goals and one assist, Alice's stellar performance proved pivotal in clinching the victory for her team.
Head Girls Lacrosse Coach Emily Walling expressed her admiration for Alice's dedication and work ethic, noting her commitment to refining her skills even after practice hours. "She puts in the work and is often found after practice getting extra reps, and it's paying off," remarked Walling. "I am excited to watch her lead our offensive unit this season."
Zach Prager showcased his exceptional talent on the mound against Hyde Park High School this past Monday. Prager’s remarkable pitching skills were on full display as he held the opposition hitless through four innings, allowing only one run while striking out an impressive ten batters.
Head Baseball Coach Steven Elder showered praise on his pitcher, highlighting not only Prager’s physical abilities but also his exemplary leadership qualities. "Zach is a highly motivated individual and a great leader for his team," said Coach Elder. "He never gets too high or too low. The way he carries himself by staying composed is second to none."
