E.P.I.C. Teammates of the Week: Kiki Sharma and Fan Shing Hung
Each week St. Stephen’s Middle School Athletics recognizes Spartans who represent the four pillars of the Middle School Athletic Creed: Excellence, Pride, Integrity, and Commitment - E.P.I.C. Teammates. Congratulations to this week's honorees, Kiki Sharma ’30 and Fan Shing Hung ’28!
Kiki Sharma swam on the girls' 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams, and competed in the 50-yard backstroke at the Austin Inter-Parochial League (AIPL) Meet last week. Even in an individual sport, she is a true team player. Sharma’s coaches say she puts forth tremendous effort and strives for excellence with every stroke. "Kiki embodies team spirit, commitment and camaraderie. Her consistent attendance, careful attention to instructions and her efforts in practice paid off, ending the season much-improved. Her joy in the pool is infectious. Great job Kiki!"
In the 50-yard breaststroke, Fan Shing Hung took almost eight seconds off his time at the AIPL Meet, finishing third overall. He also swam the 50-yard backstroke, the 50-yard freestyle, and was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished second. Fan Shing’s success is a reflection of his work ethic and coachability. His coaches said, "Fan Shing takes great pride in his athletic endeavors and really strives for excellence. He’s a great listener, puts in extra time working on new skills, and incorporates that into his racing. His positive can-do attitude and team mentality are an asset to all those around him. Congrats Fan Shing!"
Congratulations to both of these swimmers and to the Middle School Spartan Swim team. The boys finished second in the AIPL Meet and the girls took home the Championship Trophy last Tuesday!
