Spartan Athletes of the Week: Darby Osborne and Ben Oehler
Congratulations to St. Stephen’s Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey player Darby Osborne ’26 and Boys’ Varsity Cross Country runner Ben Oehler ’26 for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!
Darby Osborne found the back of the goal four times in three games over the weekend, becoming the team’s leading scorer in their first matches of the season against Denver’s Colorado Academy, Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth and Houston's powerhouse St. John’s School.
"Darby is in the right place at the right time to finish a play," remarked Field Hockey Program Head Chelsea Richards. "She has a knack for scoring, but perhaps more importantly she brings energy to the pitch daily. Whether she's tallying goals or hustling to dictate our press, Darby's positive impact in our first two weeks of the season is undeniable."
You can catch Osborne and her team take on the Dutch of Holland Hall on Friday, September 6 at 8 p.m. in their first home conference match of the fall.
In the first meet of the season, Ben Oehler put on a strong performance at Garey Park in Georgetown. His hard work, dedication and focus in the off-season shined as he ran a personal record and finished third overall in the 2024 Savio Early Bird XC Invitational, hosted by Austin’s St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School.
