Meet the New Spartan Coaches on the St. Stephen's Athletics Team
St. Stephen’s begins the new 2024-25 academic year welcoming new coaching staff members and commending others on their new positions within the athletic program.
Spartan Girls Varsity Basketball Coach Dustin Armstrong assumes the role of Middle School Athletic Director, picking up the baton from Kathy Coe who served the St. Stephen’s community for 15 years. Armstrong will organize and supervise the Middle School Athletic Programs, serve as an Athletic Program Director and continue his role as the Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach.
Greg Cook is moving to a full-time role as the Spartan Athletic Program Director and Head Cross Country Coach, Head Coach for Middle School Track and Assistant Coach for Middle School Soccer. Greg graduated from St. John's School in Houston, Texas and has coached at Southwest Preparatory Conference schools for eight years. Cook previously coached track athletes at St. Stephen’s and St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Austin. He earned his Bachelor's from Rhodes College in Economics.
Cursty Le Roux joins the Spartan Athletics team as the new Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach and Program Director, replacing Juliann Johnson who accepted a position with the University of Texas at Austin volleyball program. Coach Le Roux previously served as an Assistant Coach for the UT Austin Volleyball program during the Longhorn’s 2023 NCAA National Championship. As their recruiting coordinator, Le Roux helped secure the number one class for 2025. She also served as the Defensive Coordinator at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where they won the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Coach Le Roux attended and played volleyball for the University of Arizona, earning two-time First Team All-Pac-12 honors.
Jordan Sexton has been hired as the Assistant Middle School Athletic Director. Sexton will be an Assistant Coach for Varsity Football, Head Coach for Middle School Soccer and Assistant Coach for Middle School Track. Jordan has previously coached track, soccer and football at St. Stephen’s. In addition to coaching, Jordan previously served on sales and external relations teams in Colorado, where he was previously based. Sexton is a proud alumnus of Holland Hall Episcopal School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he participated in both the Southwest Preparatory Conference and Independent School Association of the Southwest communities. He earned his Bachelor's in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University.
Christian Spencer joins St. Stephen’s as the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach. Spencer has previously served as an Assistant Coach for the Texas Warriors Elite travel team. Prior to his coaching career, Spencer brings experience as a player, beginning at Baker High School in Mobile, Alabama and then receiving a scholarship to play at Universidad del Sagrado Corazon in Puerto Rico. While there, Spencer played for six years with the Carolina Pumas professional basketball team. When not coaching, Spencer is managing Talent Delivery for Google, leading teams in the U.S. and India. Coach Spencer is married with two young children.
